The only reason i seek a code bootcamp is because i need guidance and a structure then from that foundation i can go and learn on my own more confidently instead of just wading through the jungle.

nullish operator can be used instead of ternary operator because only if null or undefined is considered as false on the life hand side,

Side projects are the way. Ha I always take a gander at my collection of app ideas in my notes app, and find the most doable project. Google was bugging me about closing my dev account for not uploading an app to the play store in over a year, so I build a quick one feature POC in a day lol

Great suggestions! I would like to see a video on “how to start the quick project”… possibly the smaller ones that might be able to scale… ie. Cron job that exports some data from google sheets and sends it to a database or shares it with others

I career changed at 36 in to software after years of trying to carve out financial freedom for myself and never quite being able to get it. I went full monk mode in my career, landed a senior role in 4 years, quit after 6 years total in the industry. This was largely possible because I didn't have kids or even a relationship to worry about whilst I completely disappeared in to my career. Software development is absolutely my calling, it's by far the best career I have ever had, but from the moment I got my first job in software I knew I wouldn't last working for someone else, and I knew this was an incredible opportunity to utilize a high salary to finally break free. I had a full time job and was consulting on the side and poured every cent I could in to money generating property. I got my financial freedom mostly from short term rentals, and whilst I wouldn't call it passive income, It gives me all the freedom in the world to work on whatever the hell I want, in peace and tranquility. It is truly a wonderful feeling, and I honestly wish I achieved it earlier in life. If you can, go out and get it folks!

Lot of interesting ideas here but most require additional skill sets, IMHO if you already have a high paying full-time SE job probably the most passive & easiest option is to live below your means and invest any savings in the stock market and let compounding interest work it's magic

Why not take it a step further with something like Python? Connect to the database automatically (or automate the extract process through whatever front end tool), generate the HTML, then login to the website and upload the new HTML. Perfectly doable in almost all websites and applications.

to me the "is there a way to make this more DRY" sounds rude the vagueness makes it sound rude, I would prefer pointing out the lines where there is a repetition.

honestly if someone did some round about speak like this , i would be annoyed, because i would immediately see it's almost a lie and you're not being honest, but rather concealing your thoughts, like you're better than the other. just say," it looks to be like a lot of repeated code , can we make this more dry"

Thanks for sharing! All these points are valid and I think you could summarize them as taking ownership. You are responsible for the project and that the cost of change stays low in the future (high quality code). You are responsible for making your team perform at the highest level (tooling, mentoring, communication). You are responsible for delivering high user value (planning, consulting, prioritizing, etc.). You are responsible for yourself (get up to speed fast after vacations or onboarding, get unstuck, etc.). Sure others do mistakes and it’s not your fault. But you own the project and you need to take responsibility. That will make you really standout. Good luck everyone! 👍

I was a field service tech for Cummins Allison 852 Feehanville Drive Mount Prospect, IL 60056 they make money counting equipment (not the diesel people) but same scenario, half assed parts and to top it of they told me not to do the preventative maintenance anymore at customer sites just run the vacuum a little bit and wipe down the machines. I was like "But that is gonna make the service call numbers go up and is >theft of service< WHY ? Well they wanted to keep selling new equipment every 3 years or so see ? With At Will I was fired,SAD HUH ? Country is in TROUBLE...

Thank you for the video, first of all, but I noticed that your video is "choppy" and has chunks removed. IDK if that it something that your recording software does to remove the pieces of "silence" of N milliseconds or if it is done intentionally in your post-processing software but it actually really messes up with the watcher's brain and after several minutes of watching it becomes very very annoying. Kind of reminds of those fast-flashing Insta-tiktok videos. Just FYI
